A delegation of Wells of Hope - the Talitha Kum Interfaith Network based in the Middle East – had the opportunity to present itself to H.E. Mons. Cesar Essayan, the Apostolic Vicariate of Lebanon, and to H.E. Mons. Joseph Spirteri, Apostolic Nuncio of Lebanon.

Despite the challenging COVID19 situation in the country where the number of new daily cases surpasses 500 for the first time since May, both of them gave a warm welcome to the team, led by Sr. Marie-Claude Naddaf.

With H.E. Mons. Essayen, they had the possibility to present Wells of Hope project and its value as well as the importance of combating human trafficking in that region.

According to the 2020 US Trafficking in Persons Report, over the past years, human traffickers exploit domestic and foreign victims in Lebanon and an increasing number of women and girls are subjected to domestic servitude in Lebanon. H.E. Mons. Essayen agreed on the importance of awareness raising activities, making himself available to share the purpose of the project with local Episcopal Conference and exhorting the bishops to be more involved on that.

The Apostolic Nuncio of Lebanon blessed the project and provided his support to the initiative. H.E. Mons. Spirteri praised the joint work between Christian and Muslim women because this is the only way to make a real change. He gave to the team his benediction and promises them prayers for the people and this Mission.

Well of Hope addresses trafficking in persons by building and/or strengthening networks, promoting women’s collaborative leadership at local, regional, continental and international levels, and by promoting collaboration for anti-trafficking activities in the Middle East. On February 2020 was launched the documentary "Wells of Hope" directed by Ms. Lia G. Beltrami. “The story of the Documentary – said Sr. Marie Claude Naddaf –  about Wells of Hope Network, will help to reach out the most vulnerable people, raising awareness, and  starting a process of freedom and empowerment. We hope in a better world”.
