ONE WEEK OF "WELLS OF HOPE"
Talitha Kum presented the documentary “Wells of Hope”
One week ago, Talitha Kum presented a documentary about women against human trafficking in the Mediterranean Basin.
On February 20th, Talitha Kum, the UISG international network against human trafficking, presented to the public the documentary “Wells of Hope”, its first interfaith project against human trafficking produced by Aurora Vision.
The documentary talks about the creation of an interfaith Talitha Kum Network in the Middle East. Talitha Kum networks around the world work to prevent, protect and give assistance to the victims of human trafficking.
At the Press Conference, there was: P. Fabio Baggio, C.S., Under-secretary of Migrants and Refugees Section; Lia Beltrami, director; Sr. Gabriella Bottani, International Coordinator of Talitha Kum; Sr. Marie Claude Naddaf, Regional Coordinator of Wells of Hope Network; Esra’a Ali Salameh Alsheyab, Wells of Hope Jordan; Wafa Aqeel Saleem Almakhamreh, Wells of Hope Jordan; Nassim Alwan, Wells of Hope Lebanon.
This presentation was matched with an important event of reflection and spirituality sponsored by the Episcopal Conference of Italy (CEI) in Bari during these recent days.
According to Sr. Gabriella Bottani, Coordinator of Talitha Kum, “the Mediterranean Basin is a place of meeting between different cultures and religions. We are persuaded that this interfaith and intercultural meeting with trusting relationships are the basis to sow real hopeful activities for women, children and all people who are trafficked in this region”.
“With this story – said Sr. Marie Claude Naddaf – we want to reach the most vulnerable people to start with them a process of freedom, powering hope in a better world”.
“Wells of Hope” wants to awake consciences and get us in touch with the wounds of a land that has become a crossroad of human trafficking, a place of recruiting, kidnapping and moving of many people, especially women and children, in organ trafficking.
According to the Director Lia Beltrami “the geopolitical context, conflicts and different cultures and religions has made difficult the realization of this documentary. We couldn’t film in Lebanon and Syria so we decided to follow a symbolic way where the power of images and music can touch the audience”.
After the first screening in Italy, the documentary will be presented at Nepal human rights international film festival, from March 4th-March 7th 2020.
The documentary is in Italian, English and Arabic and it’s available after a donation to support Talitha Kum activities at this link https://donorbox.org/wells-of-hope
