Webinar: A Survivor-Centred Approach to Protection and Advocacy
The Talitha Kum global network is pleased to invite you to a webinar entitled, “A Survivor Centred Approach to Protection and Advocacy”. This online event will bring together survivor advocates, our international network, and advocacy experts to dialogue around a survivor-led approach in eradicating human trafficking.
📅 October 20 at 10:00 AM (Rome Time)
Systemic change against human trafficking cannot occur without strong advocacy. Survivor-centred advocacy amplifies the voices of survivors and strengthens their role in shaping human trafficking narratives. Survivor experiences and perspectives can help identify gaps in protection systems, inform policy reform, and contribute to systemic change. However, this must happen in ways that respect survivor’s agency and avoid instrumentalizing their stories. This webinar will explore how we can transition from speaking about survivors to listening to survivors, working alongside them, and supporting survivor-led advocacy.
Moderated by Sr. Bernadette Reis, FSP, the session will begin with a panel discussion with survivor advocates from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. Following the panel, we will engage in group sharing and an interactive Q&A. The online event will conclude with expert feedback from Professor Jennifer Burn AM, founding director of Anti-Slavery Australia, who will provide comments and insight on survivor-centered advocacy and systemic change in practice.
To ensure accessibility, simultaneous interpretation will be available in five languages: English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
We hope you will join us and look forward to your participation!
