LENTEN 2026 | Walk for Humanity
An initiative that we can easily adapt, especially during this season of Lent and beyond.
Walk, reflect, pray
Walk for Humanity is a sacred journey to WALK with purpose, REFLECT with humility, and PRAY with hope for a world grounded in freedom and dignity. Every path toward “conversion” begins with small steps of transformation. This time of Lent invites us to journey together for “compassion in action for transformation.”
Literally and spiritually, walking brings our hearts closer to compassion and unity. Talitha Kum Youth Ambassadors in Japan have set an example for other young leaders around the world by starting the Walk for Humanity initiative.
Small steps with a real impact
This inspiring activity promotes the Walking in Dignity app which transforms our daily steps into tokens to donate and support anti-trafficking projects around the world. To maximize the potential of this app, developed by Talitha Kum International, they have been organizing public gatherings to walk, reflect, and pray together while at the same time supporting concrete initiatives preventing trafficking around the world and fostering a sense of intentional solidarity.
Rise Hosoi, shared “In Japan, we organize walking events regularly. We invite people to just walk together, reflect and pray along the way. During the walk we can talk casually and learn about human rights issues, the reality of human trafficking… It gives the participants the experience of becoming “advocates” themselves. I hope this inspires young people to do the same in their country!”
A movement spreading across continents
This initiative was shared on social media and was quickly recreated in other countries. In Kenya, several walks were organized in Nairobi to support the Rebirth of a Queen project. In Rome as well, on the occasion of the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking, we walked among the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire to bear witness to a society that once normalized slavery, and to remind ourselves of our responsibility today!
