Annual meeting of Amrat
The annual Meeting of AMRAT (Asian Movement of Religious Against Trafficking in persons) will be held from 9th to 12th November 2019, in Kheda district of Gujarat state in Western India. The aims are to report on the activities of the past year and to plan the plan of action for 2020. Participants are around 120 Sisters from different Congregations. During the meeting the sisters will elect the New Team of Amrat for the coming years.
The current Amrat President Sr. Arpan Carvalho, BS will chair the meeting. Sr. Jyoti Pinto, founding President, will present the scenario on human trafficking and the relevance of Amrat in today's context. Sr. Meera, RGS will share a testimony on Talitha Kum General Assembly, which took place in Rome in September.
AMRAT operates in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The network, founded in 2007, engages in activities for prevention of trafficking, provides assistance to survivors and manages social re-integration projects.
