The second training of youth ambassadors in Asia is completed!
The training course for young ambassadors of the network against human trafficking in Asia, ended on October 16th.
The course, which began on September 18, 2022, was held online every Sunday, consisted of six sessions, and it involved about 35 young people aged 22 to 34 from 13 different countries in Asia.
In this second edition of the course, compared to the 11 countries previously present, both the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar were added, in which the social scourge of trafficking continues strongly, unfortunately, even today.
The objective of the meetings was to understand the phenomenon of human trafficking, analyze the situation in different Asian countries and recognize the importance of the role of ambassadors in the fight against human trafficking.
At each meeting, the young protagonists of the course shared perspectives and points of view on trafficking in the Asian continent and, on the final day of Sunday, young people worked in groups and proposed anti-trafficking actions to be carried out.
There will be another meeting that will allow the entire network to understand how the young ambassadors have implemented what they learned during the course and how much has actually been done.
Sr. Abby Avelino, MM, the current International Coordinator of Talitha Kum says that "Since the course began I have felt so much enthusiasm and good energy from young people and a great involvement in the project. Young people want to help in the fight against trafficking with concrete actions and carry out awareness campaigns on this scourge."
