Peace with Creation - Reflections from the Talitha Kum networks on the Season of Creation 2025
Every year, from September 1 to October 4, we celebrate the Season of Creation — a time to pray, reflect, and act together for our common home. As part of this journey, we are sharing reflections from across our global network.
In her reflection, Sr. Annette Arnold, Talitha Kum Oceania Coordinator, shares the urgent reality of Pacific Island nations facing the devastating impacts of climate change.
Sr. Henriette Pite, Coordinator of Talitha Kum DRC, sheds light on the link between mining, ecological destruction, and human trafficking. The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the richest countries in mineral resources — yet this wealth often comes at the cost of the environment and human dignity.
In Brazil, Márcia Maria de Oliveira from the Um Grito pela Vida network describes how environmental destruction and human exploitation are interconnected, especially in the Amazon where illegal mining, deforestation and wildlife trafficking are on the rise.
Finally, Sr. Nadine Rasmata Ouédraogo, Coordinator of Talitha Kum Burkina Faso, shares an urgent call for harmony with creation: "A true collective awakening is needed—to build a future that is more just, more secure, and in harmony with both people and Mother Earth."
To conclude this Season of Creation campaign, we will share a final reflection from Lebanon on the Feast Day of Saint Francis, October 4th. Follow the campaign on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
