Light of the Risen Christ, Pathways of Peace
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
The Resurrection invites us into a profound mystery that life can rise from death, and light can shine even in the deepest darkness. In today’s world marked by conflict, displacement and hidden injustices, this reflection is not only spiritual, but it is deeply human. It calls us to believe in peace- a peace that is alive, active and transforming.
Today, this call to peace feels more urgent than ever, as we witness the realities of suffering and uncertainties faced by so many people. Across many parts of the world, families are forced to flee in search of safety, many migrants and refugees find themselves in fragile and uncertain conditions. In this situation of vulnerability, traffickers take advantage of fear and desperation, leading many into deception and exploitation.
Through the Talitha Kum network, we hear these stories every day. We are also witnessing new and evolving forms of human trafficking. The increasing numbers of young people from different parts of the world like the Philippines, Indonesia, and across Africa are deceived through online recruitment. They are promised decent work opportunities and they travel abroad in countries in Southeast Asia, only to find themselves trapped in exploitation, forced illegal activities, closely controlled, threatened, and stripped of their freedom.
These realities reveal a world in deep need of peace.
In the Easter Gospel, the first words of the Risen Christ to His disciples: “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19). The disciples were filled with fear and uncertainty. Yet Jesus enters that space of fear, not to take it away immediately, but to be present within it. His peace does not ignore suffering; it embraces it and begins healing from within.
This is the peace that we are called to live.
One Sister in Sri Lanka shared a powerful experience that reflects both the pain and the call to this presence. She said: “ We were at the airport to receive the body of a migrant worker who had gone to Kuwait in search of a better life. Instead, she was brutally murdered and abused. Now, her body has been returned home.” Together with Talitha Kum network, she stood beside the grieving family. There were no easy words…only presence! A presence that listens, that weeps, that accompanies in silence. In such moments, we encounter the suffering of so many migrants, and their families. We recognize the wounded body of Christ in those who suffer. And yet, the words of the Risen Christ echo: “ Peace be with you.“ It is a peace that remains in grief. A peace that gently holds wounded hearts. A peace that opens a path toward healing, even when the future is uncertain.
Sisters and partners of Talitha Kum network live in this mission every day. They are present in places of vulnerability; among migrants, women and children who have been deceived and exploited, among families waiting for news, and communities affected by violence and forced displacement. Often, Talitha Kum actions are simple: offering a safe and trusted space, listening with compassion, and walking alongside those who suffer. Yet, these small actions carry the light of the Risen Christ!
These are the pathways of peace we walk together.
We invite you to continue this journey with us , a journey of peace and hope. Your support makes this mission possible. Together, we are not only responding to suffering; we are also helping to transform it. We are building a world where dignity is restored, justice is pursued, and hope can rise again.
In a world that keeps longing for peace, we remember: peace is the presence of justice, compassion, and a shared commitment to the dignity of every human person.
As we celebrate Easter, may the words of the Risen Christ remain in our hearts: “Peace be with you.”
May this peace guide us, strengthen us, and send us forth to be light in the darkest places.
Thank you for being part of this mission of life and hope.
May the blessings of Risen Christ fill your hearts with peace and joy!
