Talitha Kum Japan

Talitha Kum Japan is an established network group among Association of Major Superiors of Women Religious and Association of Major Religious Superiors (Men) in Japan in collaboration with J-CaRM (Catholic Commission of Japan for Migrants, Refugees and People on the Move) commissioned by CBCJ (Catholic Bishop Conference of Japan) to counteract trafficking in persons. Talitha Kum Japan arose from the Talitha Kum Southeast Asia conference that was held in Danang Vietnam in December 2015. The conference was attended by representatives of consecrated persons and members of J-CaRM. One of the objectives of this conference was to meet the challenge of how to empower consecrated persons to act together against incidents of trafficking, forced labor and other forms of modern-day slavery in Japan. This led to the initiative of organizing the Talitha Kum Japan.

Our mission is to network with consecrated persons and lay partners in combatting the human trafficking in Japan in order to work towards justice and restoration of dignity in the lives of marginalized people. One of our goals is to strengthen the network among Major Religious Superiors both men and women throughout Japan in collaboration with J-CaRM and to make the issue of trafficking in persons a priority, especially with migrants and refugees in Japan.
