CTIP South Africa
In October 2007, 45 religious women from 7 countries in Southern Africa attended a workshop in Cape Town - conducted by Stefano Volpicello from IOM in Rome and convened by Sr. Marie-Lu of LLCL(SA). Sr Bernadette from UISG was sick at the time and couldn't attend. From 11-15 March, 2008, Sr Bernadette and Mr Volpicello conducted a floow up workshop in Benoni - at the end of which SARWATIP was born and became a member of Talitha Kum network. Sr Cecilia Mkhonto of LCCL (SA) at the time was chosen as coordinator of SARWATIP. (in 2014 SARWATIP in South Africa was changed to CTIP to avoid confusion between that and the Counter Trafficking Office set up by LCCL (SA) and the SACBC in January 2008).
