Northern Ireland human trafficking debated in assemblyA motion condemning human trafficking is being debated in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
The Ulster Unionist party, which proposed the motion, has called for NI to be turned into a "hostile territory for human traffickers". It follows recent arrests of alleged people traffickers both in NI and elsewhere in the UK.
The UUP said it hoped the motion would "look at and address" the issues surrounding human trafficking. Speaking during the debate, Alliance Party MLA Anna Lo said: "It is essential there's also co-operation with the Republic of Ireland and other countries in the EU.
